Rest in God

"You have made us for yourself and our hearts are restless till they rest in thee."

This idea of resting in God has been a huge part of my conversations as of late. It seems that every non-believer I've talked with in the last couple of weeks is searching for peace with no hope at all. In the last 30 or so hours, I have shared the gospel with at least three different people, and each have had their own struggles and trials. However, each person has been "crawling in the dark looking for the answers." What a joy it has been to remind others of the verse in Matthew 11 where Jesus says to take on his yoke for his burden is light and in him alone will rest be found. I thank God that he has taken the yoke of bondage away from my life and has replaced it with a yoke of peace, contentment, and immense joy. What joy I feel in knowing Christ and making him known. He is indeed to AWESOME to not share with others!

Amen,

Having hope in Jesus does bring you to rest. We no longer have to running and running and runnning to find our purpose. We know our purpose and reason for life.

I also like the By The Tree and Hoobastank references in your blog.

I read this verse to a Roman Catholic friend of mine in high school and she responded by defending her obligation to appease the wrath of God herself ... along with the grace of Christ.

Praise God for those witnessing opportunities. Always encouraging to hear you faithfully proclaiming God's Word.

Brently - I second that! What a hope we do have... and an incredible peace that comes from this knowledge. We forget far too easily... thanks for the very timely reminder (as finals wrap up, along with my semester. ;)

God bless, Brent - keep faithfully proclaiming His name to those who have not heard.

JJ- Way to go with knowing the songs I quoted!

Quinn- That guy was Ruben, and he has been raised knowing the truth, but he has not been living the truth. He did not know that someone could know for sure if they were going to heaven. I talked about some principles from first John (Lode)
L-Love for others
O-Obedience to Christ
D-Sound Doctrine
E-Endurance till the end

I also talked about the way to Christ (Jn 14:6), and we talked about sin and a need for a savior. We talked about the empty pursuits of this world and how only Christ will fill our emptyness (RESTLESSNESS). It was very encouraging!

Brent,
That is so encouraging. I love to hear how you love others and all the opportunities you have daily to share. Besides that, you seem to have a gift for noticing the people who need to talk (or at least the focus : ). Keep it up Brently, I will be praying for you. OH, and keep us posted.
